Well tonight I watched every down of the Texas @ Texas Tech game and can say this game had my emotions going nuts throughout. For most of the first 3 quarters TTU looked dominant almost like they couldn't be touched. They were in Colt McCoy's face throughout the game. However when the fourth quarter rolled around it was Texas chance to shine. They played very well and at one point even took there first lead of the game going up 33-32 but TTU would make a drive that would eventually end with a 28 yd TD pass to Crabtree with 1 second left. Unfortunately Texas wasn't able to pull out this game but I think they still have a very good shot of making it into the title game.
After this week I would say that the top 10 teams would have to be
1. Alabama - Still undefeated
2. Penn State - Undefeated but inactive this week.
3. Texas Tech - Simply because they are undefeated and beat Texas.
4. Oklahoma - Have dominated all season long with exception of Texas game.
5. Texas - A brutal stretch of games against 4 top 11 teams during that span 3-1.
6. Oklahoma State - There only loss is against Texas.
7. Florida - Nice win against Georgia, loss against a weak team though.
8. USC - Much the same as Florida loss against a weak team.
9. Utah - These guys have been flying under the radar all Season
10. Boise State - Much like 2 years ago this team is looking good in a non BCS conference.
While I have a lot of Big XII teams in there right now only Texas has played the toughest part of their schedule so this will be shaken up quite a bit. Depending on the way things pan out I think Texas still has a legitimate shot at make the BCS title game as long as they win out.

The Playoffs and Mavs Offseason
Alright everyone this will be one of my last blog posts for a while so I will give my predictions for the remaining match ups as well as the finals. As most of us know the Mavs have now been eliminated by the Hornets so I must pick someone else to win the finals. So here are the second round matchups and my predictions.
Western Conference Semi's
Lakers over Jazz in 6
Spurs over Hornets in 7
Eastern Conference Semi's
Celtics over Cavs in 6
Pistons over Magic in 7
Note: These were my predictions before 2 games were played not now so please don't be to harsh.
Western Conference Finals
Spurs over Lakers in 7
Eastern Conference Finals
Celtics over Pistons in 6
NBA Finals
Celtics over Spurs in 6
These are my predictions now let me explain why I thought/think everything would unfold this way. I believe that while the Lakers are a very talented team the Spurs have every piece you could want for a title contender. In the East I think Boston plays great team ball and defense and those are the formulas to win in this league. I have the Celtics over the Spurs because I don't think San Antonio will have enough gas after a western conference finals series against the Lakers.
While the chances are slim the playoffs turn out like I see them that is what I think will happen. As for other notes, I'm not to happy with Cubans decision making at this point in time and I think it will come back to bite him in the ass. I think the Mavs should have gave Avery one more season. I'm also hoping that J Kidd will retire so I will not have to put up with watching his sorry ass anymore. As for other Mavs players I do not have many problems with them with the exception of Josh Howard. I say that he needs to step up and help lead this team to the next level because Dirk cannot do it alone. Other than that I do have to much else to say. Hopefully I will be able to get another blog out for those of you that read.

Been A While
Alright guys I'm back. I know that I have not posted in a while but I have been swamped with school and other stuff lately. I have finals this next week and the following week so I will only have one more blog in that time. After finals the blogs will really be spread out as I will not know when I will have Internet to use. So on to the talk.
Since my last blog the playoffs have advanced quite a bit. The suns are on the verge of elimination as well as the Nuggets. The other series have been a lot closer though. The Mavs will play the Hornets in Dallas tonight in the fourth game of the series. I think this is a must win for the Mavs. I believe that if they can get some momentum going that they will be able go back to New Orleans and take game 5. My playoff bracket is already looking a little busted partly because I picked the Suns to beat the Spurs and the Pistons are struggling with the Sixers. Granted the Pistons can still win the series IMO. The only trouble with this is that, this is a team I picked the Mavs to meet in the finals. Don't get me wrong I am definitely biased in my pick of the Mavs in the Finals. However I believe that the West is pretty much open to any team. Since i haven't been on lately I will give you my first round predictions. I know there a little late but these are what I picked from the very beginning I am not changing them not that a few games have been played.
Western Conference
Lakers over Nuggets
Mavs over Hornets
Suns over Spurs
Jazz over Rockets
Eastern Conference
Celtics over Hawks
Pistons over Sixers
Magic over Raptors
Cavs over Wizards
These were my original picks and so far they are looking pretty good. So thats about all I have for you right now but I will put one more blog out before I am done with school, hopefully there will be a bit of a picture of the second round. So I can give my predictions for that. So until next time. GO MAVS!!!!!

Playoffs
Alright so its settled the Mavs are now in the playoffs thanks to Dirk returning from his injury a little earlier than anticipated. In a game of vital importance they were able to stomp GS. There only loss in the last 5 games has been against the Lakers. They are looking good right now and if they can keep up this form they will be set for the playoffs. I would like to see the Mavs match up with the Hornets or Spurs. I think the Spurs and Mavs match up well and the series are always good ones. I would like to see the Hornets match up because even while the Mavs would be the underdog I think they could do what GS did last year. The Mavs are not going to be a typical lower seed and I think this years Western Conference can go to almost anyone. I personally think that the Rockets are the worst team that will make the playoffs at this particular point. If GS can make it again I think they could make a run as well. Other than that I will prolly end here till the start of the playoffs.

Dwindling
Alright so a little has happened since the last blog. The longhorns were eliminated in the elite 8 and the Mavs have lost 2 in a row to the teams that are trying take there playoff spot. As of right now the Mavs are tied with Denver and GS. They hold the tie breaker over GS but not Denver. Thankfully they have the clippers tonight who they were able to beat without dirk about a week ago. Josh Howard has been stepping up but it seems like there are a few people who are not. I hope they can get a win tonight and get some momentum and get into the playoffs but as of right now it looks like are playoff hopes are dwindling.

11 Games Left!
Hi everyone. I would like to start out my first blog by posting a little about myself then getting into a little bit of Dallas Mavericks basketball. I am going to try to write at least one blog a week. So now a little bit about myself. Hi my name is Darren I live in Fargo ND and am currently a college student at NDSU. When I'm not busy with school work and other school activities I like to watch sports and play video games. I have been a loyal Mavericks fan virtually since Mark Cuban purchased the team. Not only am I a Mavs fan but I am a Minnesota Vikings fan when it comes to football. The NFL and NBA are my two favorite sports and like to watch and talk about them. So now I would like to talk about some Mavericks basketball.
There are currently 11 games left on the Mavs schedule and they currently sit at the 7th seed with a record of 45-26. Right now the big question with the Mavericks is will the be able to get it done without big man Dirk. Well I don't have an answer for that but I do have some speculation. I think they will be able to get into or maintain there current playoff seed without Dirk. While Dirk is a great player they have other great players like J Terry ,Howard, Kidd, and Stack to hopefully carry the load. This is an extremely talented roster which in my mind has underachieved to this particular point in time. It is definitely not going to be easy for the Mavs over this stretch considering 3 of the next 4 are against Golden State and Denver. Hopefully Dirk's injuries heal right and he returns strong to make the push at the end of the season to make the playoffs and hopefully make a splash in them. Everyone knows about there disappointing series to GS in last years playoffs so hopefully we can get the negativity out of the air if they make the playoffs this year. Alright well I think that is enough for my first posting so thank you everyone for reading and hopefully I get another one written within the next few days.
